Thornton won't be returning to coach Trotwood
Sports

Ike Thornton couldn't turn in that piece of paper.

"I went to give my resignation twice and I didn't feel comfortable giving it," Thornton said of his job at Sam Houston High School in San Antonio. "I wasn't at total peace with it."

That means Trotwood-Madison won't be going back to the future with its high school boys basketball coaching position. Thornton called Trotwood officials on Thusday, June 5, to say he couldn't take the job he accepted a week ago.

"I backed out of it," Thornton said. "It took me a little bit longer to make the decision."

We have found a listing for them on the GreaterDaytonWorks website.  There are a couple of positions posted now, but assume this site will have more postings as the opening of the new facility nears.

It appears some of our Trotwood city officials, and other local organizations played Easter bunny this year in Afghanistan. Found this today online and thought I'd share.

Another school levy headed for November ballot?
LocalFrom the Dayton Daily News ....

Trotwood-Madison school board members will consider placing a 9.06-mill operating levy on the November ballot.

The district is facing an anticipated deficit of almost $3.4 million by the end of 2009.

"The school has no choice but to ask for a levy in November," Superintendent Lowell Draffen has said.

In addition, Draffen said he is recommending the board approve $1 million in budget cuts beginning in September.
